The “material girl” isn’t winning over fans like she used to.
Her new album, Rebel Heart, is the first of her albums to not debut in the No. 1 position on the charts since 1998. Couple that with her recent barbs at her hometown of Rochester Hills, Michigan, in which she called the town “simpleminded” during an interview on the Howard Stern show.
The Mayor of the town penned an open letter to the aging pop diva, which created a viral sensation. In the letter he points out that Rochester Hills was cited in Money magazine at #9 for one of the top places to live in the country.
Maybe having Diplo produce tracks for you wasn’t the best idea, Madonna. It certainly didn’t help your sales or your level of class. Still, we are fans and will remain so, even though we are Michiganders at heart.
