THE KILLERS 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT SAM’S TOWN
To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their sophomore album, Sam’s Town, Vegas’ own, The Killers, will release a “10th Anniversary Sam’s Town” vinyl reissue this fall and host “Sam’s Town Decennial Extravaganza” at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas. Released on Oct. 2, 2006, Sam’s Town, was The Killers’ follow-up album to their debut, Hot Fuss. Sam’s Town boasted singles: “When You Were Young” and “Read My Mind”. The “killer” rock band will perform for two different nights—on September 30 and October 1, 2016. Alice In Chains, one of the most successful and influential American rock bands of all time, are currently gearing up for the release of a much-anticipated new album and will perform live in Vegas at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Oct. 1, 2016. Alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Alice In Chains were one of the Big Four to emerge from Seattle in the 1990s and went on to change the sound of modern rock.The band has garnered multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and amassed a diehard international fan base. Create A Change Now, a local charity teaching at-risk students to plant, grow and cook fresh, healthy meals in order to prevent childhood obesity, will host its second annual Edible Education Dinner at Panevino Ristorante on October 8 from 6:30-9pm. This year’s theme will be Weighing in on Our Future, a look inside the obesity epidemic. Proceeds from the dinner to benefit the organization’s mission and their Healthy School, Healthy Life program. As part of a special celebration of the “Beautiful – The Carole King Musical” run at The Smith Center in Vegas this fall, Triple George Grill at Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is debuting a special a la carte menu that features menu items that are created in the theme of hit songs written by the legendary songwriter.
Act One menu items consist of I Feel Earth Move salad with roasted beets, frisee, tangerine vinaigrette and goat cheese priced at $7, and Pier 39 soup featuring bay scallops, shrimp, salmon, swordfish, and tomato broth priced at $9.
Act Two menu items consist of Brother Brother truffle and traditional beef tartar duo priced at $14 and Beautiful featuring seared foie gras, black cherry compote, crostini, and truffle honey priced at $15.
Main Course: guests can enjoy a main entree of Oh! Carol a 12 oz. KC strip steak with king crab legs, asparagus and roasted garlic herb potatoes priced at $45; So Far Away Lake Superior trout almandine served with asparagus and quinoa priced at $26; or Beautiful Woman, a chili roasted cornish hen, jus, sautéed vegetables, and wild rice priced at $22.
